Sounds like its just the sending unit. Not super critical, its just for the gauge. May have a CEL or check gauges light.

A pic would help.

This is also OEM Tech, not Advanced Tech. Moving...

does it look like this?
were did it break?
and 50 bucks at napa
if it broke that the very tip you might be able to get a pair of vice grips on the nipple and take out, it should only be hand tight, well like old rusty hand tight

were did it break off?
and depending were it broke off oil will come shooting out of it once u start the motor thats how they work , oil presses against a plunger and spring if it broke off after the spring retainer i would imagine it would just push the plunger out, unless they have it designed were the plunger can only go so far, anyways im not an engineer but i've seen some broke of cat engines and become a laser beam of hot oil haha

When I read "an old plug broke off" I figured it was just the wire. Not the entire thing.

I now realize why I thought this.

Title just says the wire was broken. And if its just the wire no oil will leak.

You can get one from autozone for around $25. From someone who has replaced 3 of theses in one year, just go to the dealership and get it for around $50 it is a much better quality sending unit.

vacuum hoses will get you into hotter water than an oil pressure sensor!
