Filter: Not fram. Wix/Gold, Mopar etc...
Plugs: Champion Truck Plugs. Forget the P/N. They're cheap.
Wires:??

Gap is .035"

.035" is the correct plug gap.......after that, the other items are subjective.

For filter, it's a great idea to go with the oversized if you can. I'm not 100% positive if these will fit in a 97, maybe someone else will comment on this. If it's like a 99 then you should have lots of room.

Here are part numbers for *quality* oversized filters:

K&N Gold: HP-3001
Mobil 1: M1-301
Motorcraft: FL1A
Napa Gold: 1515
Purolator: L30001
WIX: 51515

Wires I would recommend Mopar or NGK. I have NGK RC-CRX026... they blue!

Plugs are Champion RC12ECC (labelled as "Year Round") gapped to .035"

Don't buy Fram!
Champion copper plugs
Quality wires (a lot of people like Napa's wires)

frams have a poorly designed anti drain valve and most, if not all, cherokee filters are mounted upside down, so overnight you run the risk of draining the oil out of the filter. also the newer frams are glued together and the glue breaksdown creating gaps that debre can flow through....overall just a poor design.

and to answer the OP question, i use a wix filter, mobil 1 or pennzoil 10 30 champion plugs gapped at manufacture specs and bosch plug wires
