Gents - I see the various bits of advice on types of oil filters.

The filter being used on mine is one by Mopar (as it always has been, since it has only ever been serviced by Jeep from new).

I'm assuming this will be given the thumbs up, given that it's an OEM part?

Looked through all the replies and nobody said anything about just looking at the oil and seeing if it is dirty. Justlook at the dipstick at the gas station when pumping and see if the oil is dirty or clean. A good rule I follow is if you can see the markings on the dipstick through the oil then its good, but if it not clear then change it,

I dunno about that. I do know that color doesn't indicate how good the oil is. Just a few hundred miles turns oil dark brown.

If your oil turns that black after a few hundred miles, then you did something wrong. I have always used this method and I have zero engine problems. I do use a darker oil (Rotella) than most especially Valvoline. like I said if your oil becomes that dark after that short of time, then you did it wrong.

Amsoil makes an awesome by-pass filter as well as full flow filters. Change it once a year.....
