Have you read the endless oil threads on this site? Do a search and you'll find dozens of opinions that have been recycled over and over again.

You have a good combo there. The Wix filter and Rotella T6 15w40 work great. I'm running it in my 89 as we speak.

Good to go.

Synthetic may clean some gunk out and perhaps some leaks will show themselves.

Then you fix the leaks.

Don't sweat it though, it really is a high quality oil.

Or you could be a nervous Nelly and just use the same old gunk producing stuff that Grampa uses in his 91 Crown Vic.

Whatevs.

Yeah, you're right, T6 is 5w40. Either way I like it just fine.

YMMV

Are you thinkn the answer is the same for an 87 with 350K, as an 01 with 105K? Anyway, Jumbo is correct, an excellent choice, ....but not sure myself about a North Dakota winter there.

I live in UP MI.

A block heater is a bonus, and give her extra time to come up to operating temp before you head out.

Give your XJ the good stuff and treat her nice... easy peasy.

True that. I have replaced my valve cover gasket and oil housing gasket and I need to replace rear main seal bc it leaks to. But imma fix it soon. Just thought it would make it leak worse. But I've been wanting to make the switch bc it's thicker quality and may help my lifter tick a lil

Like I said, YMMV (your mileage may vary), but I've been running T6 in my 89 for a couple years now (all season daily driver) and have had no I'll effects.

Regular oil changes and routine maintenance will keep your XJ healthy and happy for years to come.

Your XJ loves you, love her back... give her the good stuff yo!

I lived there for 18 years, over on the western end. There's snow...and then there's that place, lol.
The old timers, when it was too cold for the car to start, would flip a trashcan lid upside down and light up some charcoal on it. Then when the coals turned white, slide it under the engine bay. When the oil leaks start dripping again she's ready to start!

Use T6 5W-40, not 15W-40. You'll put too much stress on the engine in the winter using 15W. The WIX 51515 is good.
