Stock XJ Cherokee Tech. All XJ Non-modified/stock questions go hereXJ (84-01)
All OEM related XJ specific tech. Examples, no start, general maintenance or anything that's stock.
If you have the part number, Google it, and can find a Mopar online retailer they usually have a "What It Fits" section on the page.
This will tell you all the Mopars that use this same part.
Also if you can find the part on the Napa site they have the "Buyer's Guide" section. This will tell you all the cars that this part fits. Not just Mopars.
RockAuto does the same thing too when you click on the part number.
How much you can trust the info you see is anybodies guess.
But at least it is a jumping off point of sorts.
How about if you added a bunch of Factory Options that your Jeep did not come with?
That's a tough one. Dealer installed would count as correct and original. Swapping the steel wheels for factory alloys when they weren't on the build sheet would get it knocked of the concourse. So what do we call those ones ?

Clones.
Oh wait to make it sound quite not so bad the word "Tribute" is used these days. LOL.
I got it in my head for my '00 Sport to build a Up Country/Limted/Police Version/ European Orvis XJ clone of sorts.
Building the Jeep I think Jeep should have built.
Taking all the options from them and trying to put them in mine.
A couple things from the '98 5.9 Grand Cherokee.
The hood louvers from one and the fancy tire cover they come with.
Not to mention a couple things from '96 and down XJ's and MJ's.
Basically a rear tire carrier, retractable cargo cover, and the retractable under the hood light.
Damn all you guys with Grizzly wheels making me want another set of Grizzly wheels.
My 2dr almost counts - it has the original drivetrain, sheet metal and paint, but most of the original suspension is gone... thanks a lot upstate New York...
You do have a point. But by restored, I mean things like new heater core, AC stuff, bushings, shocks, brakes, tires... all wear items that were worn out. Still had original paint and interior if that counts.
I bought this 1 1/2 years ago, But yea it's changed . 166,000 Agate Leather, one owner, New engine rebuild New 3 inch Zone lift actually new every thing, except I need to do the saggy head liner ,And Raptor the Roof. It's been fun.
Now
Best part was doing it by absolutely by myself ... sorry for the big pics I really should take the time to resize them, Oh wait I don't have any time. I own a JeeP.
2000 Cherokee Sport, built 9-99
64,500 miles
Sienna Pearl Coat exterior
Premium cloth seats, Camel & Black interior
4x4, Automatic
Chrysler 8.25 rear differential, no ABS
Note: Wheels are correct but powder coated when I got it thus technically it does not meet the survivor definition, but a great example none the less.

I'm jealous. A Federal Emissions '00.
Could you post some shots of your exhaust?
From the exhaust manifolds back?
I ask cause of the build date of your Jeep.
When you are buying exhaust parts for an '00 they always say "After a build date of 1/20/00".
I'm curious as to what is different in one that was manufactured before that but is still an '00.
Were they available when that Cherokee was new or a few years old ? If so then I vote accessorized not altered.
Aftermarket, within months of new purchase added brush bar and side bars. Got the radiator replaced, system flushed, and new coolant in just in the nick of time. Photo today. Cherokee Sport, original drivetrain, etc. 353,000 miles, purchased new April 2016 in Oak Ridge, TN. Will do a rundown of everything that has been repaired or replaced sometime on the forum.
242 ci
Manual, 5 speed
4X4
Chrysler 8.25 rear
Stock wheels and original tire size
Jeep dealer option roof tire rack, installed by me a few years after purchase.

This thread was solely intended for “survivor” jeep pictures and basic vitals.
