Default The “OFFICIAL JEEP CHEROKEE XJ OTHER KIND OF SURVIVOR THREAD”

There's not very many totally original "survivor" XJ Cherokees left out there. There is a well deserved dedicated thread for those rare gems. This thread is for the other kind of survivor XJ Cherokees, the many that aren't totally original and still in use.

Got a stock configuration Cherokee maintained outside of an Authorized Jeep Dealer, maintained or repaired with other than genuine Mopar parts ? Welcome..
Accessorized with a roof rack or CD player from when that Cherokee was still kind of new-ish ? Come on in.
High mileage, well worn but still running and driving ? This thread is for you.

Whats allowed:
Repairs including stock XJ engine and drive train rebuilds or transplants from a different XJ. Improvements like limited slip diffs, Bolt on like snow plows, bull bars and tow hitches for examples.
Period correct accessories that do not require cutting, drilling or folding the body, if you got it flaunt it. Parts swaps or options from different years and trim levels of XJ, bring it.. Stuffing Up Country suspension underneath, oh behave. Tin grafts from donor jeeps to keep yours alive are respectable, commendable and most definitely allowed.

This thread if for the XJs that that get used as God, Richard Teague and Roy Lunn himself intended. Daily drivers, chore trucks, travel rigs, work rigs, recreation haulers and weekend getaway mobiles this is your home.

Drive it don't hide it ! What have you got ?

(87 XJ, Original paint, classic 80's interior, rust by Father Time!)

Other mods: New copper/bronze heater core, HD front springs, Front U-joints, Welded and butressed exhaust manifold.

Did you say aftermarket CD and dealer option tire rack?

1996 XJ Sport, 353,000 miles Alpine AM/FM CD, dealer option roof mount tire rack, third radiator (including the one from Toledo), third pair of rad hoses. This radiator and last one were brass/copper), second thermostat, third heater valve, original heater hoses, third alternator, driver's seat from a Pull-A-Part Cherokee del Grande, second fuel pump. Valve cover and oil pan have never been removed since I bought it new.

Amassing video for posting home gamer repairs with hand tools on my 318SixPack YouTube channel some day.

Bonus points for still owned by original owner.

Meyers plow and Dietz plow lights ?
Ha ha ..Ding Ding Ding! You guessed it. (nearly).
Meyer mount and pump, Western lightweight plow (custom A-frame adapters by 'me'), Meyer (classic) lights probably by Dietz. I've been thinking about switching to a low profile light.

When I bought the truck, 2nd owner had a heavy Meyer Classic 7.5' plow what was killing it. I had to rebuild the front suspension and springs. I found a lightweight Western 6.5' that is perfectly suited for it. Even though it's light it moves snow great. Best part is outstanding visibility when plowing. The owners manual describes a snow plow pkg (option) back in the day, and good snow plow practices. There are quite a few guys who used to use XJs to plow, The unibody front frame is stonger than a Toyota tk frame I used to plow with. There's some under-body rust I need to deal with one of these days.

Let it SNOW!!
