rims are just safer period cause your not relying on the integrity of the spacer even though they are bolt on your still relying on just that...despite the fact that most tire shops will not touch vehicles with wheel spacers...and spacers themselves can cause vibrations...plus offset rims just look cooler anyways

You're not relying on the spacers integrity, you're actually relying on the stud.
The farther out you move the wheel from the hub the more stress the studs take.
Properly backspaced (aka offset) wheels are the only way to go.
