Not quite sure what you're asking, but I'll give it a shot.

If you want to, say, connect your mp3 player(phone, ipod...) to the factory radio, it's pretty easy depending in which way you go.

There's always the FM modulator route. Not on of those transmitters that just broadcast over the radio, like this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/UNIVERSAL-RA...ht_2164wt_1037

It just plugs into the antenna jack in the back of the unit, line from antenna plugs into it, and use an RCA-to-3.5mm plug to connect your player.
This way you can tuck it up under some trim, in the glove box, wherever you want. The example I used from Ebay even has an on/off switch.

I think it's a nice simple way to add functionality to a stock headunit. No splicing, no dicing. Plug and play, a kid could put one in. And by kid I mean, say, 13 and younger.

Hope this helps.

There is two options,
One is a cassette adapter that plugs in like a cassette and a wire to the headphones jack on the MP3 player.

Another I've used an mp3 player that plays via FM signal.

It uses a usb thumb drive.

Another option is a GPS with FM modulator and music on a microSD card.
I have one of those too.

The wireless methods suuucks
The wired method is not THAT much better
For fidelity the tape cassette is the way to go, that said its not all its cracked up to be either.

If I was required to do one, I would go with the wired FM. Its down and dirty, and works reasonably well, while staying hidden.

thanks, those fm transmitters don't work properly in the big towns and I hate cassette adapters, and took the radio out and realized that there is no connection for external cd changer , so the only way to go is get another, maybe single din radio.

That's why I suggested the modulator. The transmitters are garbage. And with your radio out, you're halfway there. It's up to you if you want to reattach the antenna.

he's saying remove your attenna so your not picking up garbage from other stations. No attenna, nothing to get distant signal from, but the transmitter is close enough where it should be read clearly.

Just read and thought I would clarify. I did this because my stock rado has some goofy attenna cable that doesn't fit to my radio, so I rigged it this was to listen to my radio. Depends on the area, though. I am a delivery driver, and I get no signal in a few places.

You can get an aftermarket head unit with a built in iPod/MP3 control wire for around $100 these days. Everyone is getting the touch screen crap nowadays so the standard removable-face head units aren't as expensive as they used to be.

No need to cut up any wiring to make it work, either. Get the wiring harness adapter.

I ran the cable for my iPod down behind the HVAC controls and through the center console, into the console box itself. You can't see the wire at all unless you open the lid, and all you see is the connector sticking out of a little hole I made to feed the wire. iPod stays plugged in at all times, and I control it through the radio.

If I didn't open the console lid, you'd never know I had an iPod hooked up.

yeah, I think I'll go this way, but which harness adapter do I need? there are quite few of them, I'm a bit confused.
