OEM front coil replacement
I'm planning on replacing my front coils tomorrow. They look like they are the originals, front is sagging and they are rusted a bit. Figured, why not?
My Chilton's says I need to disconnect almost all of the front suspension: lca, stabilizer, track bar, tie rod and even the drive shaft.
Is this all necessary? Can you remove the oem coils by jacking up the body and letting the axle droop? I am replacing them with the "Original Replacement Parts" (really, Crown) 16.5" front coils from quadratec.
I'm replacing the front shocks too, so they will be off before I tackle the coils.

Not a difficult job. I was able to remove mine by only disconnecting the lower control arms and the swaybar with the rig sitting on jackstands and the front end hanging free. I compressed them about 2 inches and they slipped right out. As the previous poster stated....treat that spring compressor like a live grenade. I witnessed one of those let loose one time and it wasn't pretty.
