OEM fog light madness
I have factory fogs light setup, but I rerouted those connectors into some Hella 500's. Out of the blue they stopped working. No 'blue' light at the switch.
Under the hood, I have 2 relays. Fog light 1 and Fog light 2. If I take out Fog light 2 and jump the 3 to 5 pin, the lights light up, even with the switch off?
I have cleaned my switch so I'm pretty sure its good. Fuses are good under the hood. I tried swapping in different relays.
Any other idea's on what could be the problem?

I really have no way of testing it. I did try to open up my defog switch and use its internals and got nothing.
I really hate to buy another switch if its not the problem.
Any easy ways to test it?

You can get a switch on eBay for $20 or less. If you're concerned that the factory wiring can't handle it, make your own harness. Below is a diagram with xj fog switch.

The factory wired these fog lamps to be hot at all times, correct?
The reason I ask it because I'm trying to measure voltage at the switch to see if its even getting power.

Idk squat. It may well be there is always power at relay terminal 30. It may well be that the switch, (on ign power), shoots power to 86, causing the relay to shoot the real power up from 30, out 87, to the lights. (85 would need to be grounded.
I don't want to confuse things, but the activation could work the other way as well. If 86 had power, the switch could ground 85 to activate it. Let's say that's unlikely. (although a bunch of other Jeep SPDT relays do indeed work that way)

I believe the fog lights have power any time the normal lights are on. I dont believe they will work if your high beams are on though.
