How's it going everyone. I'm pretty new to the whole Jeep thing. I've been devoting everything i have into a civic i have and i recently bought my girlfriend a jeep. It's a 97 Jeep Cherokee, with the 4.0. I have a few questions. I believe they just slapped a "Sport" sticker on it, but if im wrong please correct me. If its the sport shouldn't it be a 4x4 or a standard? 2nd question, was it optional for the Cherokee to come with a female port for a CB antenna on the roof?

 

Can be either 4wd or 2wd, and no none had factory cb

 

interesting because i have a pretty clean looking female port for an antenna on the roof of our XJ. just looked oem.

 

Nope! No OEM CB mountings. Some one just did a good job at putting on an antenna.

 

nice! they conveniently ran all the wires up to the center console as well. so whats the difference in the "Sport" package? its a 97 XJ 2wd 4.0 inline 6. what makes it the Sport model?

 

I'm not sure of the differences, but you can take your VIN number to your local dealer, and they can give you a build sheet with all the options it had on it from the factory! I don't remember if it costs anything though.

You can also email jeep.com with your VIN and ask for a build sheet if you don't want to go to a dealer.

Almost everything could be had via option.

 

if u have a smart phone, got to the apps and search vin decoder and look for one called alpha it work great.
