Default Nutral Safty switch problem.

Ok guy I have a 98 XJ and I have a problem with my NSS. Sometime my back up lights work and some times they don't. I was wondering if there is a way to make adjustments on it or do I have to buy another one (I hope not). If there is a way to adjust it how do I go about doing this.

My dad had this issue with his 97. He tried cleaning it which is about all you can do. There is no adjustment. After he cleaned it it worked well for about 3 months but then went back to not working again. If your gonna tear it apart you might as well replace it so you don't have to tear everything apart again in a few months.

That's the truth. My buddy was going to buy a new NSS and the cheapest one he could find locally was around $250! He found some on an online parts site for as low as $200. That still seems awful high to me for that part. But, I guess they have you over a barrel if yours doesn't work.

I just bought one out of the junk yard...was very easy to take off and i will clean it up and use my old one as a spare if need be. $250 is way too much to spend for a few hours or work. I paid $20 for mine out of the junk yard.
