Default NSS Troubles

Hey guys, I replaced my NSS and drove it around and got a check engine light with the code P0700. I cleaned the connector ensured that the bolt was tight (I put Loctite on it) and I believe it is adjusted correctly because the shifter isn't stiff and moves easily between all gears. I cleared the light and drove again only for it to pop back up, I cleaned the engine ground I believe. It was the strap that ran from the back of the block to the firewall. Cleared the code and it reappeared. Do any of you guys have suggestions for what to check next?

That strap is not an engine ground. Its for noise suppression. Radio interference. No harm in cleaning it tho as it does serve a purpose. Here are the main grounds, provided by another member, CCKen.

Is it giving you another code as well? P0700 is a generic OBDii code that means something is wrong with your trans. Sometimes it has another code with it that is more specific.

It might not have anything to do with your NSS. I cleaned mine recently and when I started my Jeep, it started once and then wouldn't start again. Turned out to be my crank position sensor. It went bad at the same time.

All it is giving me is the P0700 code, I'll try and scan it with a better tool. Thank you fb97xj1 for the wiring diagrams and pictures that is very useful I'll clean those grounds! I cleared the code and put thread sealant on the bolt that holds the NSS in place and so far so good.
