NSS...HELP!
So today i was taking off my NSS because of rear backing light and have to start in N once in a while..
I had no problem taking off the bolt and nut and the nss was loose to the point where it felt i can take it off, but after trying all sorts of things like threading the nut and pry the nut( bad idea, nut seem to of strip shaft/post.
so i just decided to put it together and do it another day, my prolem is that the Adjuster Nut doesnt tighten and keeps on turning. I was able to start my jeep in Park and everything is fine but im concerned about it.
Anyways to fiix this, Please help i still want to take it out and clean it.

If you stripped the threads off the shaft your gonna need another NSS shaft/assembly. Hit a local upull of someone parting an XJ.
The shaft only has a small section of thread, which is why the writeups tell you to be so carefull with the removal method.

Swamper, I did the same thing last week. Did you one worse, actually, since after stripping the shaft (with that oh-so-handy trick of threading the nut on and prying) then I actually tried to bend one of the tabs and snapped it. I put everything back on, without that nut on there, and have been driving for a week while sending out some messages to folks on criagslist parting out Jeeps trying to get an NSS.
Funny thing is that it hasn't failed to start in P since I messed with it ... but I know it's gonna fail at the worst time.
My advise is to just get a new one - it's an expensive part but you can get them for around 40 or 50 used/clean.
