Was feeling good about replacing my rear brake drum cylinders today so since it was warm and my tools were out I decided to try and fix my NSS that has been giving me problems.
I tried to fix it last year but for the life of me I could not get it come off. I tried all the techniques in the various write-ups and still it wouldn't even budge. Well today was no different but it finally gave way and I ended up with pieces.
I bypassed it so I can drive it. I am going to try and track down one in a junk yard possibly because of the price of new one.
Since most people post up success stories, I thought I would post up a big fail.
Pics to come in a moment.

Since a new NSS here in OZ was quotedby the dealer to be $1024 (yes, more than a grand, pretty much $900+ USD) I decided to give one of the many US online part stores a go. For $45, mine had actually a good quality feel to it and it's still working fine after 18 months. And for that money, I calculate that anything after a year is a bonus.
I wouldn't go too cheap though...
BTW: nice 'exploded' view of your old NSS

Just had this problem last month. Tried to take off the NSS and snapped it into a bunch do eves. I ended up sanding down the shaft and attacking it with an air chisel(right on the metal sleeve that was attatched to the plastic parts of the NSS and it slid off like butter) I ordered a 40 dollar one off eBay. Slid it on the shaft, plugged it in and boom I had reverse lights and it started in park. Truly was plug n play. It also beats crawlin around the JY or paying 300 bucks for an OEM one. eBay products are usually hit or miss but a lot of reviews for the NSS are good. So yah. That's my story. Hope you figure it out. Good luck!

Good to know I'm not the only one with that little wonderfulness!! If the rest of the switch doesn't come off the shaft can the shaft be removed via dropping pan?
