I am going off this website. http://www.boyandjeep.com/tech-articles/aw4-neutral-start-switch-rebuild

That looks like the link I was planning on following. I dont have any CELs, but I do need to adjust the little bugger. Sometimes the only way I can start it is by turning the key and moving the shifter to the sweet spot between P and R.

Mine looks like crap, so I hit up the necessary bolts yesterday with PB Blaster. I really dont want to have to open the wallet to replace a 250 dollar sensor.

Well i got bored and started on it and got the bolt and nut off with no problem at all but now the actual NSS will not come off. It moves back and forth about a 1/4" but will not budge off the shift shaft. Any advice on that and it is more of a tight spot than i thought. I have to drive this thing to work on Tuesday. Thanks

Just be careful and don't pry to hard. One site I read said to pry on the nut....don't do this!!!!!. Just take your time getting the switch to slide off the shaft.

Nope. Just remove the 10mm bolt as well and kinda wiggle it back and forth while pulling on it. I used a small pry bar and tried to be gentle and broke all kinds of ****.

Broke what? The NSS.

That's is my main worry. I don't know how tough or easy to be with it

Yeah I broke 2 ears off the threaded shaft and cracked the case around the shaft prying on it. I did a good job of messing things up. Funny thing is that spending money on a new one was out of the question so I put rtv on the part of the case that cracked and reinstalled it. I think I got one thread on the nut and locked it down wig the locking tab. So far its been working great. I just hope it stays like that.

I did this to mine!
Bought Electrical Cleaner and White Lithium Grease..
Only took about 5-10 minutes and its been working perfectly for about a year now.
Looked into buying a new one and it was near $300...
definitely better to fork over the 8 bucks for cleaner and grease

Good luck man

Thanks for that advice, I sprayed it before i went to bed last night and got it off first thing in the morning. I normally us PB on all tough bolts and didnt even think to use it on that.

Now i have cleaned and reinstalled the NSS and now my reverse light work all the time. But the CE light will not stop coming on. I think i have a short in the wire some where. I am going to start a new thread about me CEL codes because this may not be related to the NSS anymore.

Thank yall for all the help
