Default NP242 rebuild

Alright it's time to start pulling the transmission and the case. They have 280k on them. Transmission shifted great so it was told to not even worry about rebuilding it from the tranny guy of 44 years in work with.

The the case in want to rebuild.. But my question is with that many miles should i get more than just the usual rebuild kit?

With that mileage I would probably go for a new chain, shift fork pads, bearings, and seals. Probably buy them piecemeal, Cloyes chain, Timken or SKF bearing and seal kits, the small bits you can buy from Crown

any specific kit you'd recommend that would have most of that stuff?

rockauto has an SKF overhaul kit, the picture looks like the same master overhaul kit you see everywhere but it should have SKF bearings and seals (should)

They also have Cloyes chains, I bought the 10028 for my rebuild

awesome! So you think those will cover the rebuild? As long as the input and output shift are ok?
