you find 4.88 axle gears from a gear company then pay someone to install them. you won't be able to install them (properly) yourself...it's a job for a pro who has the $850 worth of tools to do the job.

find a local club member here who can install gears, and offer to help him out with something, or work out an install deal. it's a tough project to do.

anyways you'd be looking at around $450-$600 for gears installed at a REALLY GOOD price. normal going price would be around a grand.

BUT deeper gears will be best for you in the long run anyways...you will have better all around response (and actually be able to hit 85 on t he highway)

have you done gears before?

if you haven't, you WILL NOT get them done right. this is no slight against you...I have watched fully qualified pro's who've been doing it for years screw it up. it's tedious, time consuming, and repetetive.

and like I say, if you don't have every tool necessary, you will only get it within the ballpark. within the ballpark isn't a winning combination...you'll wreck the gears.

anyways, there are several good gear places online. being that I've never had to buy any, i don't have links. best someone who does know ask the question. my advice however on buying gears would be to call and order and talk with a tech about what you need, to make sure you don't get the wrong thickness ring or wrong cut gears.
