Hello all, I have to replace the stock 231j t-case from my 2000 Cherokee Sport and someone locally has a 231j out of a 94 Cherokee. Are they compatible? If not will I simply need to make some modifications or will they simply not swap? Thanks for all the help in advance.

 

The rear output shafts are different, so you would need a pre-95 rear driveshaft to go with it.

If the vehicles have different transmissions, you might also need to swap input shafts, which might not work if the gear cuts in the planetary are different (mid-94 change).

 

Thanks! I'm going to go check it this afternoon. I think I can get the driveshaft from this donor vehicle but the input maybe a problem.
