Yup thats why it's called a "hack N tap" you hack off a certin ammount of the shaft tap the center and put on a yoke and put a bolt in the center to hold it in place. on the older 242 cases you need to use a seal kit on the newer cases you retain the factory seal. for a builder working with a budget this is a good solution. i've done some research and found many people were happy with the hack n tap about 90 percent. so for me doing mostly trail riding and moderate 4 wheeling AND this will eliminate any highway vibes caused by a lifted xj with a stock driveshaft. as far as some seriuos off roading i don't know i've heard some people wouldn't trust it, but some that have it said it works just fine so thats up to you.

Hmm okay I was a little confused all the other HNT kits i heve seen use a flange type deal. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

That looks like a pretty solid kit, so all I would need to do this too my 242 would be the SYE and driveshaft kit along with the seal and flange and im good to go?

What is the part on picture #2.. i thought you only needed RE HnT(or any other) Spicer part that connects to HnT and then the CV driveshaft

Pic #2 is the new yoke that you slide onto the shaft and bolt it on. the 4 gold colored bolts go thru the yoke and thread into the existing threaded holes in the CV joint on the new drive shaft.

The RE H&T uses a flange and yoke adapter

if you use the right yoke you don't need the flange or adapter
the kit shown is the best one to do a H&T

the Rubicon Express is not
