Its all good

So if i were to use that kit could I just pick a driveshaft at the Junkyard, get the yoke and maybe some new Ujoints and it would work? Or do I need the seal kit too?

if your TC has a rubber boot you don't need the seal kit

if it has the aluminum cone you need it

the tc in the pick has the boot its the new style

Ok wow that helps a lot so to remove the slip yoke you just remove the driveshaft and slide it out the stock yoke?

Here is a link on how to install a hack n tap on a old style 242 case using the FLANGE adapter not the YOKE type. they are both very similair except the YOKE or FLANGE you put on the end of the transfer case.
http://www.angelfire.com/nc3/84jeepxj/sye.html
I will try to find one with the YOKE setup if i cant then i do mine i will post step by step pictures.

Ok i got my transfercase back early so i set up my hack and tap from Iron Rock today while the transfer case was out it took me a total of 1 1/2 hours i even had a slice of pizza in the middle.
Ok here she is my 242 TC

removed 3 bolts taped tail cone with rubber mallet and cleaned mating surface

I then slid on the Yoke till it stoped and measured thedistance from the end of the Yoke to the shoulder on the shaft at the bearing. that is the amount i need to cut off the end of the shaft.

I measured down the shaft and put Masking tape at my cut line. put a hole in a rag and secured it over the bearing to prevent metal filings from getting in.

Then I put the transfer case in 4wheel drive lock and had a buddy slowly turn the frond drive shaft yoke while i braced my 4" grinder with a cutting wheel on it and slowly moved it inwards till the shaft was cut thru.

Then i Drilled the hole in the center in 3 stages using pleanty of oil you do not want to break a bit here

Then i taped it USE A TAP HANDLE not a wrench or tap in drill. USE LOTS OF OIL. if you brake a tap in the hole it could take days to get it out if you are lucky and go slow 1/4 turn in 1/8 turn out take your time.
