I am thinking about getting new exhaust and i was looking around and found this and wondering what it is and do i need a new one with my new exhaust or can it be gotten rid of

okay cause one mechanic said it was a resonator? idk but dont i also have cats in my header cause i have similiar things on my header

Most Pennsylvanians replied. No offense Baltimore.. lol. Yes, it is your catalytic convertor.
In Pa, the Cat must be there. I had to redo my exhaust due to the PO straight piping it. You can just go to advanced and pick up a generic one for like 30 bucks. Thats what i did, and she worked.
Just a thought.

It looks like someone replaced your stock cat with a resonator. It just does not look stock, it looks like a hack job.

i cant tell from the pic, but is it only clamped on? or is it also welded? if its only the clamps, and easy way to find out would be to remove the clamps, and see if theres a honeycomb in it. you'll know for sure then!
