If you have the same model year as me 97-01 then that is you secondary cat, you have 2 main cats in the manifold itself and those have the o2 sensors in them, the secondary cat can be removed without causing any problems like showing a fault code. It is a federal offense to remove a cat though and it's against CF rules to talk about removing it.

Most Pennsylvanians replied. No offense Baltimore.. lol. Yes, it is your catalytic convertor.

In Pa, the Cat must be there. I had to redo my exhaust due to the PO straight piping it. You can just go to advanced and pick up a generic one for like 30 bucks. Thats what i did, and she worked.

Just a thought.

It looks like someone replaced your stock cat with a resonator. It just does not look stock, it looks like a hack job.

I just replaced the cat on my 1995 XJ with a Magnaflow. You can have my old cat for shipping if you want it - PM me. Thx.

i cant tell from the pic, but is it only clamped on? or is it also welded? if its only the clamps, and easy way to find out would be to remove the clamps, and see if theres a honeycomb in it. you'll know for sure then!

it is either a resonator (which was my first thought), or a pre-cat.
