howdy,

where exactly is the "steam" coming from?

you probably have a leak (coolant) somewhere and it is hitting the motor or exhaust and that is causing the steam...

or,...... is there oil on the motor? does it smell like burning oil? or does it smell like burning anti-freeze?

check all of your hoses and connections, use an inspection mirror and a flashlight if you have to to look underneath the hoses where they connect. also is there anything dripping on the ground at all?

what is your coolant level? do you have to keep adding coolant?

just my two cents.....

X2 on this. Start it up and when it gets hot watch it closely and see if you spot the exact source of the leak/steam.

Water pump, radiator, radiator cap are in play.

If any of these components are older, get em out of there.

The parts aren't expensive. A cracked head gasket or cracked head will be.

And if you are doing the water pump, do the radiator at the same time or vice versa.
