Going down the road at 40 MPH speedometer went to "0" and the motor died. The engine cranks but will not start. Mechanic has hooked it up to the computer and finds no DTCs. He's stumped. My reading here tells me it could be the ECU.

Any direction on how to trouble shoot and diagnose is appreciated.

 

Palm........change CPS.

I was doing 70 on D.C. Beltway when engine just died , no warning ,no nothing.

BAD CPS.......Got one from Chrysler/Jeep dealer.

after putting in new coil, plugs dist cap etc.etc.

in the rain.

Change that first.

I had that changed last year for a different problem. could that still be it

 

Yep......could also be that the wire harness from the CPS come in contact with the manifold or other heat seeking melting hot freaking part on motor and melted connection.

Or it just went bad. They do that.

(second thought, cam sensor in distributor also might wanna check)
