Not running, black smoke...
Hi...
I have a 98 Cherokee, 175,000. Automatic.
Went to start it today, lots of ticking from the the starter motor. So I figured starter motor. Last time this happened I jumped it off my other car, it fired and ran and was fine until now.
Tried to jump it today, fired, but did not run. Would rev up but wouldn't stay going, lots and lots of black smoke. Does anyone know what it is? Before I go and get a recon starter.
