So I just bought this 01 xj with 31s and a lift. The previous owner couldnt tell me how big the lift was.
But anyways, after doing some SEARCHING I found that the newer xjs with small lifts benefit greatly from a SYE (one side note sye is too short of a word to search).
I have the vibes and pretty much narrowed it down to the drive shaft and the U-joints being worn. When the it was on the lift, there was no play in the front wheels/suspension so I dont think it is any of the tie rods/bushings...but I could be wrong.
Anyways I was hoping to confirm this with some more knowledgeable people who I know are on this forum and also get a recommendation for a SYE that will work with my set up.
I am in kind of a time crunch b/c I am in the San Jose area for the weekend and have a mechanic I trust here and need to get this done ASAP before I go back to San Luis Obispo where the only Jeep Mechanic is the Stealership who quoted me 3500-4500 for drive line, and suspension work that had nothing wrong with it.
Here is a pic if that helps.
Thanks for the help, and flame all you want
Resources also welcome!

looks like at least a 3 inch lift anyways. check your rear u-joint on the rear driveshaft and see if it has play in it. im not sure if yours has a u-joint in the front of your rear driveshaft though. and look for extended brake lines,i think anything over 3 inches has them.

SYE kits help a lot when lifting, u could also check to see if it has a transfer case drop kit on it. if it doesnt, u can buy a T-case drop kit on ebay pretty cheap and that could help a lot with the death wobble
to me it looks like a 4.5" lift but i could be wrong

How would I tell if the regular brake lines are extended vs stock?
I am assuming I just look for shims where my transfer case is mounted to see if it has been dropped?
I'll take a look first thing once its light out side. I will post pics in the morning after I get the engine/undercarage steam cleaned.
Thanks for the relpys

just look and see, they could be braided stainless steel or just longer, either way, there should be a lot of slack in the lines and not tight at all. for t-case drop, if the tranny cross member is flat against the subframe, then there isnt any installed. if its off about an inch then there installed
