Ok this is my first jeep I've got a 94xj, the 231j transfercase went out due to 3 holes in the case, on part I'm assuming the gear leaver is busted. I have a 231d case from a friend what would it take to make it work in my 94 xj

 

I'm pretty sure either the front or rear of the Tcase won't match up.

NP made plenty of Tcases, I'm pretty sure the "D" is for Dodge, just as the "J" is for Jeep.

 

make sure the sline count is the same. you can literally just count by hand if not sure. do a thread search thru the "tag search" option and type in transfer case. you will get all you need.

 

I think its the bolts that mate up to the trans that make the difference.

 

I'm more looking for what parts and how difficult would it be to make the 231d work, the bolts match up I know I need to change the input and out put shafts, but is there anything else before I start tearing stuff apart should I be a aware of?
