none of the power locks or windows work
Hey guys almost done with resurrecting a 89 xj but still need to figure out why my power locks and windows aren't working. I've got a few connectors under the dashboard by the fuse panel that aren't connected to anything and only have three very different connectors and wire colors. so no matches. Also haven't tested to see if I'm getting power to the connectors on the window motors but wanted to see if there was a little sneaky relay that usually goes out or some other weird jeep thing to look for before I whip out the voltmeter.
I'm pretty handy but I'm not the best at automotive wiring.

Start with the volt meter at the drivers door switch. Odds are you not getting power to the switch. And you might find that the wire is broken between the door and body. (In the rubber sleeve, or boot) You can take off the kick panel to check. The switches them selves are known to go bad also. JMO!

The driver's door switch is the master switch, it runs there first (or suppose to) before going to the others. It's the best spot to start trouble shooting. Ad the problem could be right there anyways.

Didn't see a 30 amp there but the picture in my manual is different than that one also. so maybe that's the correct one. cause my manual seems to be off. 91LO that seems logical that that would be a master switch just never occurred to me. I'll check it out fault is probably right there.

Mine weren't working either a couple weeks ago. I ended up pulling the whole wiring harness out from between the door and the body, a few wires were broken in the rubber boot and thus no power to anything at the master drivers door switch. It was pretty easy, just a little tedious.

What all was involved in pulling the entire harness? I've made splices to repair mine here and there but I'm too **** to just leave it at that, I want to pull the harness and completely replace/do a better repair on the broken or damaged wires.

There's nothing to it..pull your door panel and undo all the harness connections for the various items. Then remove the kick panel on the drivers side, the harness has 3 connectors it plugs into, undo them then fish the harness through the holes and out of the vehicle. Just takes a little wiggling to get it fished through all the way. Then remove the loom and fix your wires.

You need wiring diagram, test light and multitester. You have many broken wires and many other electrical problems in 23-years old car.
It is not hard to read diagram, this is for 97
1.check + and - in master switch connector
2.check each pair of wires going to each door actuator.
OK, I'll diagnose your Jeep:
you have broken wires in door jams
non working switches
a few non working window motors/regulators/actuators
