Non-disconnect d30 in 88 XJ

I have a 88 XJ with a non-disconnect d30 from a newer XJ swaped in and me 4wd won't engage can anyone help?

do you have a front drive shaft installed?
it should work as long as you have a ds and linkage hooked up.

Everything is hooked up but the handle feels like it is disconnected

check the transfer case linkage, and the bushing that is under there for the linkage.
