non-articulating ball joints?

non-articulating ball joints?
seems a little weird... just curious if any of you guys have tried them?? are they ok to use?

I thought the upper joints were non-articulating (stock design), but I might be wrong.
(Non-articulating meaning the stud only spins/rotates, but does not move around like a typical ball joint. Hope that makes sense - I'm struggling to put my mental picture into words!)
