Default Noise when braking and quits with front drive shaft out

I have a 2000 xj and have a noise that sounds like a playing card in a bicycle spokes during hard braking . Can remove front drive shaft and noise is gone . i have replaced the u joints in front drive shaft ( all three) and installed repair kit to double joint at transfer case . Any ideas ?

Do you have the NP242 or the NP231 transfer case?

Is the t-case disengaging? Sound like maybe a front output shaft problem, might be broke or loose. Definitely in the transfer case.
