Default Noise under torque, only in 4WD. U-joints?

Driving in the snow today I had my jeep in 4WD on the highway. At anything above 40 mph I'm getting a grinding/clunking sound any time I go from off the gas to on, and vice versa. When there is torque, I hear the noise. When I let off to coast, I hear the noise. Anyone else had a similar problem? Shall I replace my front u-joints? Thanks in advance. Evan

Check your U-bolts too. I bet your axle pinon is changing under load because your u-bolts aren't securing your axle to the leafs. Either way, I'd recommend gettng a buddy to hold down on the brake and goose the gas while you watch the drivelines. Pay close attention to where the rear driveshaft meets the rear axle pinon.
