When I did the shafts on my 97 ZJ, I used a BMFH and sockets to drive them out. When I installed the left one, I couldn't get one snap ring to seat in it's groove. I had to take it apart and measure the spindle section, then hammer the axle section until it was the same dimension. It worked, but it was a butcher job. I put a punch thru one hole to strike the opposite side. Of course it was the last snap ring to be installed! Figures.
