You have a blockage somewhere in the motor or rad. JUST CAUSE it's NEW dont mean it aint bad.

Ok look I am not a mechanic by any stretch, but just to help you sort things out mentally, rock hard and hot upper nothing on th lower means coolant is not flowing out of the water pump if I am not mistaken. You said thats new.Any chance it is the wrong one or seized or somehow defective? Also I believe there is a spring which goes into the lower hose, could it have been left out or collapsing, causing,in essence, a complete restriction?Could there bee something in the actual thermostat housing,or the coolant passageways, stopping the flow of coolan? I would suggest letting it cool all the way off, then start taking stuff off and getting a flashlight and at least see what you can see.Take both hoses off and inspect them INSIDE and out. Take thermo housing off and inspect, look as far as you can into the block where the thermostat used to be, and also IIRC the acyual radiator cap plays a fairlt large role in pressure regulation, and its like two bucks, could try that just for kicks.Maybe take the water pump off and have a look? How does the coolant look,is it clean and green? No funny pulley nosies? Lol Im guessing the belts on correctly...that is all I can think of, I'm hoping someone more knowledgeable will chime in but maybe that will at least get you goin in these circumstances the more you can find and post here the better you are these folks are good you will get help Hope that helps

Ok, you have started 5 different threads about this one issue that you are having. How can we help you when you keep abandoning the each thread and start new one with new information.

Send a pm to one of the mods and have them merge all 5 threads together and maybe someone will be able to help you solve your overheating issue.

theres no coolant in the oil and vice versa does this rule out head gasket or cracked head?

unfortunatly no, still could be. if you are getting compression in the cooling system your tad cap will vent it. from what i have read so far you have changed the rad pump and removed the t-stat. your top hose is super hot and tight. the bottom hose is cool.

When you pull the t stat is there water in the block? If not try filling the block with antifreeze through the t stat hole, then you will know that the block has no air. Sounds like a bad radiator to me with a clogged heater core. Bad heater core won't make it run hot. Do you have an air bag on the passenger side?

if you gotta go in the dash to change the heater core you gotta be around the air bag. use caution is what i believe he is saying. do you have access to a infared heat gun or temp probe?

If you're hearing bubbling after you shut the engine off then, you have a pressure leak somewhere. Probably a very small one which would explain your mild overheating. Check all of your hoses, your heater hose switch connections, around the heater core and all around your radiator, water pump and T-stat housing for any signs of wetness. Sounds to me like it's not holding pressure properly.

i would pull the radiator and try flushing it, in my ford i had the same symptoms but it would get much hotter. like said befor just becouse water will run through the rad doesnt mean its not clogged i ran a hose through mine for 10 minutes and there were chunks of stuff coming out so i wouldnt run that out.

Before you tackle pulling and changing that heater core try this.

1. Disconnect heater hoses from heater core.
2. Run a garden hose on the upper heater core tube.
3. Run the garden hose on the lower heater core tube.
4. Repeat steps 2&3 until you get only clean water coming out of the heater core.
5. Reconnect heater hoses and check heat. Make sure that the radiator cap (or pressure tank cap) is left off during last step to ensure you have the correct amount of coolant in the system, and to get the air out of the system

Many times the heater cores on these Jeeps just gets clogged up due to the lack of water flow to constantly clean it out. If you ask me you're also better off eliminating that annoying valve on the heater hose that stops the flow to begin with to prevent the heater core from clogging up again.
