I'm trying to pin down the hesitation. Today, I pulled the vac hose from the fuel pressure regulator and replaced it. Traced the others and no evident leaks. However...the vac diagram says 'to 4x4 and climate control ' (on the firewall sticker)
So, I followed the vac hose going that way...went to the split where some went into the firewall (and another came out to control the heater valve)...and it keeps going forward behind the rear headlight area...
So, I crawl up under it and don't see any type of vac connection to the front axle. There is the vent hose (back up into the engine compartment).
This is a '95 sport, auto trans. Had the 242 T-case, but as that was grinding, I changed it to a 231. Thought that might have been the source of my problems...but there's no vac. connection to the t-case that I can see, and nothing other than the front drive shaft coming off.
I have a Chiltons and Haynes for the year, but my axle doesn't match what they have.
No manual lockers.
This is my first 4x4 and I'm learning as I go...
Thanks...

Just can't see how the 4wd locks the front axle....don't necessarily think it's the source of the problem, but thought it work asking...

Thanks for the replies....then how does the front axle lock up when you shift to 4wd? I'm familiar (through looking at the diagrams with manual lockers and with the vac. motor (from looking at the Haynes and Chilton manuals)...?Originally Posted by Jeepjunky
but it wouldnt be on a 95 even if it is a 242 unless it was swapped in

it doesnt, its an open diff carrier, when u shift into 4x4, ur just shifting the T-case to put power to the front axle, u can get full size lockers, or lunchbox lockers for the D30 though
