Year of your XJ would help deterime if you need one or not.

Chances are good you will get the death wobble, or at least some kind of instability. Newer XJ's don't do so well on such high lifts. Might be able to get by with a transfer case drop, but should only be considered temporary.

It's all good, and it's right under your screen name anyway!!

As for SYEs, some Jeeps need them more than others, so it's hard to say if you will need one, but being that it is a 99, then it will more than likely need one. The newer XJs have a low pinion on the front axle, and I think 99 is the year they started doing that, but I'm not positive. In the end, they better to have in any case!! They are stronger, and are better with sharper angles than the slip yokes are. HTH!

DW is in no way, shape, or form connected with SYEs!! DW is a suspension/alignment issue...

99 still has a hp front axle. Im about 4.5 maybe alittle less with a tcase drop and have zero problems. I have a 242 tcase though and heard you can get away with bigger lifts without SYE on them.

yes you will need one. first i would try a front spare shaft from an xj. lots of people do this and it works for their height.

just do a t-case drop, no need for sye at that height. and use your existing driveshafts.

we've done a 4.5 on a 01 with t-case drop and no sye and got no vibes.
