no steering wheel lock

Default no steering wheel lock

so been living with the steering wheel not locking, and have just been leaving the keys in the ignition (i can pull them out but whats the point) how do i fix this? probably buy a new ignition switch.

That's probably a Saginaw column, they use a lock ring with notches and a pin. You'll probably have to remove the steering wheel and dig down into the column a bit to see what's wrong.
Often as not someone in the past gorilla'd the wheel while it was locked and sheared the lock pin.

Also electronic switch could be a cause.

I wouldnt worry with it mine hasnt worked since I put the rally style wheel in mine. My plastic wheel was shot so I put something sporty in place of it.

I'm a little confused as to why you don't pull your keys out... just because the wheel doesn't lock doesn't mean the rest of the car shouldn't be locked...

Well when I have no doors on, it doesn't matter lol plus it's insured. Living in small town everyone knows that its mine and if anyone besides me and my wife is drive it all hell gonna break loose!

ya i have that wheel stock just havent worried about it BUT! i am a perfectionist so ....gotta get it working lol

Does your small town have a highway? What do you think is going to happen if someone from another state is coming through and sees a doorless vehicle with the keys in it?
