89 xj, 4.0, aw4, 242, 8.25, d30. I parked my jeep the other day and now it won't start. First I assumed it was a dead battery cause I had no instrument panel and it wouldn't crank. Battery is new and still no power. I cheked all the under dash fuses but the fuses were good. I did notice that none of the relays would click, i.e. no fuel pump or any power other than headlights and brake lights not even tail lights just brake lights. I can get it to crank if I jump the starter relay but no fuel pump so no start. I can run power to the fuel pump for start but I want it fixed right. I'm wondering if its just the starter relay or am I looking at another issue????? Please help trying to go wheeling this weekend. Thanks.

My 93 xj does this sometimes. what works for me is to turn the key to the on position, move the gear shift down and up through all the gears sometimes more than once. its the neutral safty switch i guess. hope that helps.

 

X2 on the NSS happens on my rigs. Does this happen to you sometimes or all the time? Easiest thing to try is to turn key to acc and shift down to 1 then to neutral and then turn the key. If it doesn't work once try it again. It could always be something else but this is the easiest

This is the first time its ever happened. It has never stalled or failed to start in the 2yrs Ive owned it. I did replace the NSS switch it was used but I followed the write up and cleaned it. I didn't think the NSS would cause me to lose all power though? Damn Jeep can never be easy.

 

Its tru when jeeps wanna be a pain, they'll haunt you but no the NSS won't make you lose power I must have misread you question. Check the wiring harness to. At the fuse boxes, and trace it make sure it's secure
