hey everyone just picked up a 87 xj ran great the next day no start .

just the other day i was messing around with the wiring under the steering wheel tried to start it fired up ran for 15mins turned it off. started fine again 15mins later didn't want to start .

i replace the cps and the plug for it

the reason why i was messing around with the wiring is because the previous owner said he replaced the turn switch signal connector i believe connection C156

well thats my story of my jeep

any input would be great

First question, was the Jeep sitting for any period of time before you bought it?

If so, how long?

Did you check to make sure fuel was getting to the fuel rail on the intake manifold?

I had this problem with my 87... If yours if Throttle body injected like mine then it could be your fuel injector.... if it has never been replaced then replacing it should fix the problem

Also maybe replace the fuel filter

wasn't sitting for a long time maybe a week

the story goes like this it was running my boss was buying a new car knew i like to wheel and was looking for something told me 700 bucks and then the next day he started it up let it warm up and then i died so he turn around and told me 400 bucks so i took it

i know he replaced alot of parts on the jeep it has a rebuilt motor with 30k when he did it over he checked everything it has new rings rods pistons bearing everything he spent alot of money on it and loves this jeep

i also know he put new fuel injectors

i lucked out and got a good deal on it 32 inch bf goodrich tires 4 1/2inch lift needs a some amount of body work but nothing major

i plan to check for fuel pressure on the rail

i know the pump turns on i hear it humming when i cycle the key

anyone with some input i get Tuesday off from work and i plan to check everything out i m trying to make a list of things to check and input would be great thanks alot guys
