Yes sir I made sure i was on compression stroke when taking apart and putting back together. I just installed my freshly cleaned up spark plugs and cleaned up contact on distributor over lunch and got her fired up. Thanks for all the help guys and hopefully this can help anyone else who may be having the same problem.

My intention was not to question your ability, merely to suggest something that happens to even the best of us if we're tired and stressed out while doing something. As much as I'd like to forget about it, it happened to me once. That was an easy fix though. V8 with distributor, just rearranged the wires! Much later, pulled the distributor and did it right.

Oh I didnt take any offense to you asking and trust me i sat there for about 10 mins turning engine by hand making sure i was feeling the air push out of spark plug hole into my finger. I kept thinking well was that just some air from number two, or being in South Dakota is that a gust of wind from outside. I tend to overthink things sometimes LOL.

I've found the easiest way to find compression on #1 is to screw a plug in about 2-3 turns so you can feel the resistance as you bring it up. Then pull the plug and align the timing marks. That even works in the middle of a hurricane LOL!
