just checked the three relays by the passenger kick panel and all the fuses and everything is good there aswell. the only thing in that box i was unsure of was a metal looking fuse at the top of the junction box. there were two i think. not sure what they were. im guessing the next step is to find out if i have power coming from the ign switch? but again, if i had no power coming out of the ignition switch would it still crank?

x2 on check if power to the ignition coil.
if it has no power, it will make no spark.

I was about to say that too. Crank position sensor FTW.

If you can't be good, be good at it!

I was thinking a bit closer to the problem area. A shorted coil "could" blow-up a distributor. Strange that one problem could have a cascading effect on other components in the ignition system. I'd check for power to the primary side of the coil first and then look further.

Now watch it be the CPS!

Have we determined that there is power to the coil with the key on? How did you check to see if the ASD relay is powering correctly?
