Default no spark

97 4.0.died driving on the highway. now won't start just cranks. i'vegot no spark and also can't. communicate with a scanner through the OBD port. any thoughts.?

ok mmmm i belive there are pickup coils or something like that in there not to sure and i dont have my haynes book with me. thats the only thing i can blane. youv all ready covered everything else...cps and coil, checking the distributer wouldnt help. when i get home il check the book to be sure

I would think the same as Gee oh Dee. The coil or cps. How did you check them? I know checking the cps is iffy at best. I had my cps check and showed that it was good but it was actually bad. Although when it went out the coil went out at the same time.

CPS test:check resistance between b and c terminal marked on connector meter should indicate no coninuity (open)

ok. I have put on new coil.. distributor crank sensor. I have one spark going to the coil when I turn the key and then nothing.

Distrobuter crank sensor?

There is the cam sensor in the distributor. There is also the crank sensor, on the top of the trans bell housing...
