I'd respond individually to your posts, but I'll just say thanks for the responses. I will check right now, even though it's freezing outside, the amp in the backseat. I think it may be disconnected. I assume this is the "hub" for all the speakers in the door panels as well? Fuses are fine. I'll take a looksy and update ASAP.

UPDATE:

Well, I checked everything out connected to the amp. There's disconnected wires, but not attached to the amp. Weird. I'll see if I can get my hands on a manual to see if everything is wired correctly. Tomorrow I'm also planning on making a YouTube video of everything. Hopefully this will give a better idea of everything. Thanks again for the responses. Will update accordingly.

Loose wires where? From the amp?

We had wires not used from the back of both stereos.

The loose wires aren't connected to the amp at all. They're under and behind the left passenger seat. Amp is connected to its own wires on right passenger seat. Not sure what the wires on the left are doing. But as far as the amp, everything seems to be connected and screwed into the power surge just under the right seat. All these wires confuse the hell out of me.

So, when you turn the head unit on, does the amp come on too. There should be a little red or green led.

Good question. Let me check that right now.

UPDATE:

Just checked. No LED turned on and searched for LED. Saw nothing.

Ok so if there was no led, I'd test the wires to that amp. Make sure you have power and a ground working to it.

Okay. What's a good way to test for power from the back seat surge other than electrocuting myself?

Just my two cents but if the dealer said it worked fine on the jeep then he should fix it. Other wise go ahead and try to fix it yourself if you don't want them to do it. I searched around some forums and found this. Maybe this might help.

Yeah, I thought about this. I was kind of rushed into the purchase, as some other guy was trying to buy it while I was there. I pretty much told him what time it was and to hit the road and I was going to buy it. So I ended up doing so, because the engine and condition seem to be in a good condition. It was late and I didn't realize the problem with the sound. I knew the headlights were bad, but no big deal I thought. I'd go back to the dealership, but it's an hour away and gas would run an easy $20+. Plus, I enjoy the learning experience of fixing my own car. Thanks for the photos, I'll see what I can do with them first thing in the morning to fix the sound.

Much appreciated. I'll be around. There's a lot. But I'm not going to attempt to rebuild an engine/transmission

any up date?
not to Jack your thread but i'm having the same problem. I took the old radio out and put it into the jeep i was selling and put a nice radio in the jeep i was keeping. Both radios worked in the original jeeps they were in but when i put the nice radio into the jeep with the infinity system i have no sound, which a radio would be nice while i'm out riding in the trails.

When you installed the new deck, were there any RCA cables? I don't think there would be. But in any case I'd just check the signals at each point. At the head unit, at the amp and at the speakers and figure out what's messing up. Just my .02

I'm pretty sure there wasn't any. I think the old radio didn't have hook ups.

figured it out, there was a blue wire that needed to be connected to a red wire and everything works now
