Default no reverse lights, power/comfort switch not working

Just like the title says. I have no reverse lights and my power/comfort switch doesn't work. It used to in the past. Nss is good and clean. I have no power at the trans 7.5 amp fuse on the fuse box. What are your thoughts? Tired of the horrible gas mileage and sluggish feel with it stuck in comfort.

I would check the wires to the nss to make sure they are not damaged. Also make sure that the nss is adjusted correctly. As for the comfort switch I really can't help you there. None of my XJ's had it.

Your TCU is under the glove box. If you look good you will see an in-line fuse there on the wires that plug into the TCU. Might as wall check that.

I've found the grounds for the taillights are pretty iffy. I'd check there as well as the bulbs. A handy way to check tail light grounds (or any), is to hook an old vacuum cleaner cord to Bat Neg, then poke around with the other end. Can be quite eliminating!

Tcu fuse is good, changed it out anyway. I'll check the tailight grounds

I'm not sure about your 88 but on my 91 the reverse lights use the TCU fuse. So when the power/comfort goes out AND the backup lights go out, its pretty good bet that its the TCU circuit.
