im not having quite that issue i lose pressure immediately and im not leaking fuel anywhere i have NEVER worked on a jeep before i had a 93 GC and when it freaked out i was young and dumb and junked it

Ok.
Problem: Low fuel pressure.
Causes: FP retaining valve bad or worn FP
Clogged fuel filter
Injectors leaking either in the manifold or outside.
Quick fix: (provisory)
Ground orange/black signal wire under FP relay, connector 85 or 86 (don't remember, one of the two).
Take the fuel filter out and put a piece of metal pipe instead.
Unplug and close the vacuum line at the fuel press. regulator.
Serious fix: you know...

are they all causes or is it one or the other or a few things or?? and i have another problem when your ready to answer that one

You can't say wether it's the fuel pump or the injectors losing pressure unless you take the rail off and leave the injectors on (the rail) and check for internal leaks.
If there is no leaks at the injectors it's the fuel pump pressure retaining valve (inside the FP not serviceable in theory but i did).
What i would do first is change BOTH fuel filters, also the one under the FP in the tank.

ok about how much do they run is a line tool required for the one on the frame and its 2wd (for now) can i pull the fp without dropping the tank im so full my needle is over the F and that would so suck

Only one filter in mine..on top of the tank and part of the regulator. My guess is that my FP is going out.Originally Posted by fantic238

it takes a good 10 or more seconds of cranking before it will start and then after it starts it idles fine when im driving if i barely put my foot on the gas it goes like crazy but if i push any harder it shakes and shutters like its missing and everything tuneup wise is new and if i let back off the the very beginning of the peddle it will accelerate from there im so stumped on this thing
this was my other question when i "wasnt listening" and fully understanding lol i really REALLY appreciate your help you have definitly made it easier to sleep

i have 2 its a 90 they changed alot of things in 8 years i have seen the canister filter by the frame rail but i didnt know there was one on the pump i think that is such a dumb design 2 inlines would have been better one coarse one fine

It's the same problem, this is only a cosequence of low fuel pressure. When you idle or drive slowly the air-fuel ratio still works with the low fuel pressure and flow. But when you floor you let suddenly a lot of air in and the low fuel flow is not able to throw the right amount of fuel to match the huge amount of air. That's why it dies and why it returns to accelerate when you let back the pedal is because you are closing throttle=less air and the ratio is matched again.Originally Posted by jeepjeep90

The evaporative canister filter is for gas tank vapour burning, useless.Originally Posted by jeepjeep90

The main filter(fine) is near the passenger frame in front of the tank and the pick up screen filter(coarse) is attached to the fuel pump in the tank. They are in line.
There are other two little filters iside the pump and one tiny inside every injector.
