no power to the fuse for dash lights

no power to the fuse for dash lights
I have a 1990 jeep laredo that I have owned for 6 days now. on my way home last night I noticed I didnt have dash lights. everything eles works, dome lights turn signal, brake/tail parking lamps just no dash lights. so i pulled the fuse and it was good but it seems I have no power the the fuse. where should I start to check first? does my head light switch give the power to the fuse?
