No power to the fuel pump
Just thought that over. Of course 87 isnt gettting power, the relay has to be plugged in for it to! Duh... When you jump 30 to 87 you are essentially doing what the relay does.
The fusible link is fine.
Have you tried unhooking the fuel line from the filter and running the pump? (thinking maybe a clogged line farther up, bad filter, bad pressure regulator)

Oh right, that makes sense. The socket is good, relay might be bad but I know I can get power to the pump.
I unplugged the hoses from the pump and made the pump run but nothing pumping out. I have not tried since I put more gas in as I ran out of time but I can always check again tomorrow.
it's just .... bizarre.

I've never done a Jeep pump, so I don't know if this applies here. On a Turbo pump once it was doing the same thing. Turns out the rubber lines inside the tank that go from the pump to the hard-line had cracks, and were spraying the fuel inside the tank, rather than through the hard lines. I found the cure on-line and when I replaced the rubber lines it started right up. Of course I did have to pull the pump to do the repair, but was glad it was fixed.
Like I said, this might not apply to your case.

Well it's a lot of work for nothing if it's not the problem, but in case it is it'll be good to finally have it fixed.
Seems you've tried everyone's suggestions and still nothing. I thought I'd give my two cents again.

Yeah, I hate to have to pull the pump back out yet again but there is no other way to really check. Just frustrating. lol.
Just figured I would post an update here so anyone who might have this problem or one like it can see what turned out the be the problem.
I thank everyone who stuck with me and offered comments, ideas and suggestions. Without other people's input I never would have known where to start and what to test. So again...thanks to everyone who offered their thoughts.
And now...the results:
Today after getting a suggestion to wire up some leads to a battery and place the pump in a bucket of water to be able to see what the heck was going on and a suggestion that perhaps the polarity was reversed I got a chance to set up a 6v battery, the pump and a bucket of water. After messing around getting the leads hooked up solidly I ran the pump....same thing...nothing being pumped out. SO I went ahead and swapped the wires around so positive is now negative and negative is now positive.... SUCCESS the pump pushed water through and out the outlet hose.
In short if you EVER buy a pump check it in a bucket of water BEFORE installing it in the tank over and over again.
I have yet to actually re-install it into the gas tank I still need to run it in reverse some more and let it dry more to get the water out of it. I will update once again when I get it all hooked back up.

Just to let everyone know what worked and such. The above post about reversing the pos and neg ends worked. I got everything hooked back up and just started it a few minutes ago. Ran poorly but the way I have to force my fuel pump on means it is constantly on.
I just need to get some new relays (replacing all of them at once) a new lock ring for the tank (I think i tweaked it having to take it on and off so many times) and some fuel line designed for fuel injection (thought it was for FI however on the hose it says "not for FI") and I should be good to go....at least until the next failure.

i know xj got his fuel pump fixed, would'nt the pump be goofy if he had the hoses mixed up? like the hose going to the fuel filter not being on the outlet of the fuel pump. one is the outlet and isnt the other just for venting? when i messed with mine, fixed the clamps,i was thinking about how not to mix them up myself. normally i probably would.
ok read again xj said he took the hoses off and nothing pumped out. my bad.
