Check the blend door and cable. It's on the passenger side under the dash.

Hey you don't need heat in Florida. LOL

Does yours have the stupid "Heater Control Valve" in the heater core lines? If so, go buy 3 feet of 5/8 heater line and 3 feet of 3/4 heater line and delete the valve.

You will also need to flush your heater core. It's probably plugged up if your XJ has that heater valve.

Cherokees have notoriously bad heater cores, they go out a lot. When I bought mine the heater core was removed and the hose going into it just made a loop right back into the coolant system without going into the core. I think you can look and see if antifreeze is dripping green onto your passenger side floor mat. Replacing them is a pain because you have to take off all the dash to get at it.

Notoriously bad? Not sure about that. A heater core is essentially a wear item. I don't think I've seen where they are bad. They just get old. That's a given when they were first made in 84.

Yeah I think you are probably right. I always seem to hear about them going out more on Cherokees though.

That's probably more just a factor of how many high-mileage Cherokees there are out there than anything else.
