No cruise/defrost stuck on/wont stay in 4l
I bought a 99 xj 4.0 6cyl. for 500 bucks. I have read other threads bout the defrost and cruise. There is a hose and no cracks anywhere i can see. I will post pics. There is also a hose coming up from underneath but it not hooked to anything. Sry if j have done something wrong or if i asked a stupid question. This is my first jeep/4x4.

Look on the passenger side, behind your front bumper. Is there a round black ball where that hose hooks into? If not then you are missing your "jeep egg", and need to go grab one from a jy.

Check the vacuum hose that connects to the vacuum ball behind the passenger's side front bumper. It runs beneath the battery to the bumper. This hose was the culprit when I had cruise/defrost issues and replacing this one hose solved both problems. Your vacuum ball could be cracked if your hose is ok. Good luck!
