Default No buss Cannot figure it out !! Cannot figure it out!! help please!

Good day everyone
I have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee sport went to start it last week it would not turn over I got the no buss on the dash the gauges were not working. I did some research so I went ahead and changed out the crank position sensor. It starts now. But idles a little bit rough. I can drive it around but again the check engine light and the gauges don’t work they do come on sporadically. And then stop working and so on. Also I took the gauge cluster out and cleaned the connections at the plugs and on the cluster also did nothing. I took it down to AutoZone to get the codes retrieved I have P1698 it says most likely solution is repair transmission control module wiring I tested what I could find online there is power going to the TCM I also went and started disconnecting the sensors to see if the new bus would go away that did not work. I don’t know what else I can test or look at I didn’t want to just start throwing parts at it. Any help or at least steer me in the right direction would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

I cannot figure this out I tried to different scan tool still get P 1698 I change the TCM with a different one I got from a friend also change the gauge cluster. Also no good! check the grounds cleaned all possible grounds in the engine compartment. The jeep did start but had a really rough idle now it will not start at allI did check for spark which I do have. I don’t have a fuel pressure gauge but I can hear the fuel pump priming when I turn the key. I know that might not be the best indication what I have for right now.Anyone have any other possible solutions?

Well I’ve been working on this 2001 Cherokee but to throw in the towel and figure out a new mode of transportation lol I’ve checked every 5 V sensor confirming voltage I’ll check the ground wires and confirm that voltage is going to the PMC. For the PMC be bad? Is there any way that I can confirm it. Test method? Before I spend more money on something that it may not be The issue. I’ve checked all fuses relays cannot find anything wrong I know the code P 1698 deals with the TCM but I’ve tried differentAnd no change unless there is a break in that wiring harness that might be my next option is to tear that whole thing out not looking forward to it. If anybody has any ideas or has run across this issue all in any suggestions are welcome thank you

Default 1698 and 700 code

Good afternoon, I had this same problem and was trying to fix this for years. Replaced everything and tore apart my dash and checked all connections. Finally I decided to just pull the fuses one by one on the passenger side fuse box to isolate each circuit. I got to the airbag control module fuse and this fixed my problem. Found out there was an issue with the wiring going to my airbag causing my pcm and tcm not to communicate. This fixed mine might be able to help.

Note from DJ
Was it fuse 26 or fuse 27 that you pulled?

I pulled fuse 26. Cherokee is still running great after putting 200 miles on it now.
